Who Am I? My journey to where I am today.

I thought it would be a good time to reintroduce myself to you all since we've had several new additions to the group.

Happy Fall! We're cruising through the last quarter of the year and I'm racing around like my hair's on fire to accomplish as many goals as I can before 12:59pm on December 31st. It's going to be close, but I'm giving it my all!

I thought it would be a good time to reintroduce myself to you all since we've had several new additions to the group.

My name is Emily and I am a wife and mother of 2 sons, Ethan and Noah. They are super busy in soccer, flag football, basketball and piano. We've got a full schedule with activities most nights a week but it's completely worth it. I kind of like the soccer mom thing! (No van, though....at least not yet!)

When I'm not taking care of my family, I operate a housecleaning business that I started in college, and work as a Success and Life coach for moms at my newest business called EMprovedLife. I never thought I would be the owner of 2 businesses, but that's where my journey has led me and I LOVE IT!

I grew up in a very simple family in Lincoln, Nebraska, where I still live. My twin sister and I loved to spend our time riding bikes, roller skating, reading or hanging out with our little sister. Now my twin sister, Courtney and I, love to run half marathons together.

Growing up, I loved school and always knew I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I had 2 grandparents who were teachers and they gave my sister and me tons of school supplies, desks and text books so we could play school. Our younger sister (7 years younger) suffered through countless hours being our student. I owe her so much!! (Sorry, Meghan!)

After high school, I went to college majoring in elementary education and minoring in Psychology. I probably would've switched my major to Psychology because I loved it so much, but that would've meant working with rats! No way!! Ewe!

I am still obsessed with reading and learning about how the human mind works and what makes us tick. I am a personal development junkie and have over 30 books on my list to read! If you know of a good one, please tell me and I'll add it to my list!

One of my fantasies is to be on a deserted tropical island for an entire week just reading my stack of books. Well, I guess it wouldn't be entirely deserted, because I would need a waiter to bring me yummy tropical drinks and snacks. But other than that, I'd be totally alone to read 24/7. Another fantasy I have is to be a professional dancer so I could replicate the moves in the movie, Dirty Dancing. I guess in one fantasy I am lazy and the other I'm crazy fit! (even in my fantasies I'm balanced!)

During college I worked at a daycare center before classes from 6:30-8:30 am and then again after classes from 3:00-6:00 pm. In order to make ends meet I needed a flexible way to earn additional money since my class schedule changed each semester. I began cleaning houses and since I had always loved to clean, this was the perfect solution to my money problem.

After college I was a substitute teacher while I searched for a full time teaching job. They were hard to come by but I found the perfect job at a local hospital as a preschool teacher in their child development center. I loved my job and enjoyed everything about it. Although I was working full time, I kept all my cleaning clients because I loved helping them out. I would've felt awful abandoning moms who were so stressed out and clearly needed my help!

During the 7 years that I worked at the child development center, my husband and I welcomed 2 sons into the world. Ethan who is now 9 and Noah who is 7. It was about the time when Noah was 1 year old that I began to feel very overwhelmed and spread too thin. I wanted to be in control of my work hours and to be able to put my family first with zero guilt!

I decided that I needed to design a life that would allow me feel how I wanted to feel, which was content, satisfied, and pleased with my level of quality as a mom. I decided that the best way to do this was to leave my full time job and grow my cleaning business.

I still remember shaking as I handed in my letter of resignation and how scared I was as I walked out of the building on my last day.

Scared of leaving behind what I used to think of as the "perfect" job. Scared that I couldn't return if my business venture failed. Scared of disappointing myself. Scared of what my family and friends would think. And so much more.

But I had faith and the support of my husband and the smiles on the faces of my 2 little boys who simply wanted a happy home. I knew that if I limited the stress and overwhelm I felt, I would be the best mom I could be and would be a happier, carefree version of myself.

Within 2 months of leaving my full time job I had grown my client list to the point where I was making the same amount of money from my full time job but in only 20 hours a week instead of 40! By simply having the courage to follow my heart, and tell my clients I was looking to expand, the phone kept ringing!

It was at this time in my life where I came to realize that when you put out positive thoughts and vibrations, good things come your way. You still have to put in work and effort, but it's crazy what a good mindset will do for you.

Now 5 years later, I have a waiting list for my cleaning business and am researching how to hire help. I love hearing my clients say "Thank God you're here" when I arrive to clean. I recently began to feel like I could help them in a much deeper, meaningful way than just providing a cleaning service.

That's how I came up with the idea for my newest business which I began this past summer called EMprovedLife. This business allows me the ability to guide and support other busy moms in designing the life of their dreams. I coach and consult with my clients on all topics mom life related. Time management, goal setting, values and priorities, productivity and efficiency, money mindset, daily routines, organizational systems, and so much more.

Moms are wonderful, caring people, full of love, but we often treat ourselves in ways we would never dream of treating another human being. I want to empower moms to design a life that looks and feels like the life they've always dreamed of having.

Each day goes by quicker that than last and each year that goes by is a year closer to our children leaving our nest. We only get one chance at this mom thingand I'm sure you want to be the best at it as possible for your kids.

If there is any way I can support you in designing the life you know you want and need in order to show up as the mom you desire to be, I'd love to help you any way I can. Simply reply to this email and I will personally read it and respond.

I also would love to connect with you even more in my closed Facebook group, Empire of Moms. This is a community filled with wonderful women who are trying to live their best life and be the best mom they can be. Click here to join.http://bit.ly/2aL9PB9
