Back to school time can be a very chaotic time, for sure! You're balancing work, family, household chores, registering for fall sports and preparing your kids for a new school year. Lots to do, so little time.
Because I like a challenge (or I'm a little crazy) I had this great idea a couple weeks ago to begin a back to school challenge to help moms overcome the overwhelm of life and help them design the life of their dreams. What better time to improve your life than a new school year, right? No need to wait til a new calendar year!
Well, needless to say, I've been a little overwhelmed with creating the content of this incredible challenge and preparing for back to school and managing all my other day to day responsibilities. In a perfect world, I would have come up with this challenge idea a few weeks earlier, but that's okay. I set my mind to it and made it work.
In order to lessen the stress and overwhelm throughout this time, I bought a large desk top calendar and wrote out each task I needed to accomplish on small Post-It notes. I included everything I needed to do regarding normal life, business, back to school prep and my new challenge.
Next, I stuck these Post-It notes on each day that I needed to work on it. It was so simple to rearrange my to-do list this way by simply sticking the note on a different block on the calendar. Just seeing each individual task on its own small Post-It note made is so much easier for me to visualize my journey through these projects. I had so much fun crumpling them up and throwing them away as I completed them too!
What I learned during the past 2 weeks, was that sometimes when we are balancing several things at once and trying to stay sane, just incorporating a very simple strategy can allow you to succeed, and to do so happily.
Other strategies that I use to simplify my life are keeping a basket on the kitchen counter of all the ingredients I put into my morning smoothie. This prevents me from walking back and forth to the pantry or the cupboard to find my favorite cup and it's just less work.
Another thing I do is put all my daily vitamins and supplements into a pill container so each morning I dump out all my pills at once and I'm done.
What simple strategies can you incorporate into your daily life to make things run a little smoother? When everything runs more efficiently you will have more energy to focus on reaching those big goals!
Try to keep in mind that we are far more capable of more than we give ourselves credit for. I'm going to keep dreaming big and creating bigger and better things for you and I hope you'll do the same in your life!
Have a wonderful rest of your summer!
